What some birds do

Once, When I was walking outside, I saw a male dove flying down from a tree. He hit the ground as though he was going to die. I walked toward him, knowing that he was playing a trick. He limped along, his tail drooping, his head down. Then he dropped one of his wings and stumbled along, till he was to our driveway. He let me get about a foot from him, then he took off and flew far away.

If a dove does the same thing when you are around, It is not hurt only if it lets you catch it. If you do catch it and it is unhurt, let it go. Many birds will do this to trick you so they can get you away from their nests. Once I saw a cat get too close to a mocking bird's nest. The mocking bird flew into a rage. He started pulling fur out of the cat. She had just been walking around, not hurting anything.
